Frosties Away!
Despite strong steady winds of 18 to 20 knots, the 20th annual Scallop Cup was a rousing success, with participants traveling to the island from up and down the east coast.

They've been described as a bathtub with a sail, but Frosties offer keen competition. The 20th annual Scallop Cup was held Saturday near Children's Beach.
The Scallop Cup's signature event is the Frosty sailboat race, one of the few Frosty regattas held in the country. Measuring 6 feet, 4 inches Frosties are the smallest racing class sailboats and are typically sailed in the offseason.

Despite capsizing in the first race, Eli Slater of Manchester, Mass. netted four firsts in the remaining five races to go home with the 2006 cup.

John Field participated in his 17th Scallop Cup. The oldest competitor was Paul Hull, age 63, and the youngest was Cameron Chislett, 24.
