Three injured in parking lot incident
Two men and one woman were seriously injured in the parking lot of the Muse early Sunday morning when a man driving a black, 1997 Toyota 4Runner backed over them.

At 1:34 a.m. on Oct. 8, 21-yearold Roberto Jon Tejada of 52 Cato Lane, sat in his truck as an unidentified passenger in his truck was punched in the face by Magno Sosa, who was standing outside the truck arguing with the passenger, according Nantucket Police Chief Bill Pittman.

In attempt to go after Sosa, Tejada, who was parked in the Muse parking lot at the time, backed toward Sosa, striking a picnic table in front of the Muse and running over three people standing outside the establishment. One victim was pinned between Tejada's truck and another vehicle.

Tejada was charged with assault and battery and the leaving the scene of an accident. He was due to be arraigned in Nantucket District Court yesterday.

Pitman said police located his vehicle on Bailey Road at around 2:20 a.m. that morning and that Tejada voluntarily turned himself in to the police at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

All three accident victims were transported to Nantucket Cottage Hospital and then airlifted off island by Medflight to hospitals in Boston. Pittman said that one male victim had open skull lacerations and internal injuries. The second male had tire tracks on him. The female had injuries to her right torso and a skull fracture among other injuries.
