+ Held a public hearing to consider applications for the Auto Limitations

Study Committee. There are now eight applicants. Appointments will be made
Sept. 27.
+ Unanimously voted to place a six-month moratorium on commercial uses
adjacent to island ponds while the Beach Management Advisory Committee
looks into what activities could be allowed on private property with town easements
without abusing beach areas or for profit-making ventures.
+ Heard a police department overview report from Chief William Pittman.
+ Heard a review of the town and country zoning concept from Planning
Director Andrew Vorce.
+ Reviewed selectmen's recommendations on warrant articles for the
Special Town Meeting on Oct. 23. The recommendations are scheduled for
adoption tonight.
+ Heard a status report on the selectmen's goals and objectives.

+ Reviewed the Department of Public Works policy on road cuts. DPW director
Jeff Willett presented the board with nine recommendations to tighten
requirements associated with opening island streets. After a review by Town
Counsel the recommendations will be examined by the board again on Oct. 11.
+ Reviewed the concept of separating the town and 'Sconset sewer enterprise
fund accounts and special sewer assessments for 'Sconset. Town Administrator
Libby Gibson recommends retaining a single fund. Though selectman Brian
Chadwick was ready to adopt Gibson's recommendation, selectmen Mike
Kopko and Whitey Willauer agreed to first let the Sewer Advisory Committee
look over her proposal.
+ Heard a presentation on a 10-year capital spending plan with recommendations.
Approval of capital projects requests for FY08 is on tonight's meeting

+ Heard reports from selectmen representatives to town committees and work
groups.
AT THE SEPT. 20 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN,
MEMBERS WILL:
+ Hear an announcement of $4,000 in funds available from the Cultural
Council.
+ Hold a public hearing on amending the entertainment license for Cap'n Tobey's
restaurant to allow a karaoke machine and occasional live music performances.
+ Hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the town's taxi regulations.
The administration is recommending that once the board obtains public
input the hearing be closed and a decision tabled to a future date.
+ Hear a Town Administrator's report on a request for waiver of the noise
bylaw in connection with soil boring work for the second phase of the infiltration/
inflow project; the Brant Point infiltration/inflow project; and first phase of

the stormwater drainage improvement project. The request asks that phase two
drilling be allowed to begin at 6 a.m. in commercial areas and at 7 a.m. in the
Brant Point area.
+ Adopt the selectmen's recommendations for the Oct. 23 Special Town
Meeting articles.
+ Adopt the Oct. 31 Special Town Election warrant. The warrant has one question
regarding an override for 34 percent of the amounts required to pay principal and
interest on bonds to finance the Surfside Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade.
+ Vote on FY08 capital projects requests.
