M/V Eagle captain Al Brox explains the workings of the old brass steam whistle that was rescued last week from the SS Nobska; despite the New England Steamship Foundation's 30-year struggle to save the old steamer, she is now being cut up for scrap in the Charlestown Navy Yard. Sunday's arrival of the Eagle was met with hoots, tears and applause as Capt. Brox pulled the cord on the tri-tone whistle, a mournful sound that hasn't been heard in these waters since 1975.
