WALK WITH PURPOSE
MICHAEL GALVIN/The Independent Approximately 60 people turned out for Sunday afternoon's second annual 5K fundraising walk hosted by A Safe Place to support its programs and raise awareness about domestic violence. Of the total attendees, there were five teams represented. The walk, sponsored by Great Point Properties and organized by ACKtivities, began at the high school, wound through town to the rotary and ended at the school. A special t-shirt display from A Safe Place was hung by the school steps with each shirt containing words about people the authors know who have been victims of domestic abuse. Jack McGrady raised the most money as an individual and won a gift certificate to The Brotherhood. The team of Merritt and Dougan won gift certificates to Fooods for Here and There.
