Join our Reader Advisory Network

The Nantucket Independent invites you to join our new Reader Advisory Network. The goals of the network are to improve coverage of our community and more frequently involve our readers in the content of the newspaper. Once you register to join the network, we will send you periodic emails asking for your thoughts on a variety of topics.

We may ask general questions like “How are we doing?” or more specific ones like “We are writing a story about people who collect postcards. Do you know anyone we should contact?” or “Property taxes are going up. How is this affecting your family?”

The goal of this project is to get feedback from real people in real time.

You can respond to these questions or ignore them, but we hope that you will talk back to us.

In some cases, a reporter may contact you for more information about your response and in other cases your answers may be used as part of a story. Sometimes your response will just help us do our job better.

We will not sell any names or contact information in our database. The information will be used solely for reporting purposes. For example, we may ask a question about Nantucket’s schools to people who have school age children.

We know life is busy, so we promise not to send email to anyone on our list more than once a week. By joining the network, you are making a commitment to help us cover Nantucket more completely and accurately. And for that, we thank you.
