Men’s league takes week to “cool off”

      After two particularly physical games on Tuesday, July 19, Nantucket Ice suspended play in its men's A League hockey season last week. There were 17 penalties and one ejection in the game between Pudley's Pub and Atlantic Sportswear, and 15 penalties and four ejections in the Something Natural/Arrowhead Nursery game.

Nantucketers secure bragging rights
     The inter-island rivalry stayed hot on Sunday when three teams of Nantucket hockey players ventured to the Vineyard. The men's A League-level teams skated to a 3-3 tie, with goalkeeper Colin Williams making several saves to keep the Nantucketers in the game. The men's rec-level team from Nantucket dismantled its Vineyard counterpart 7-2 behind two-goal performances by Greg Rand and Mark Greenfield. The Nantucket women's team kept the visitors perfect, beating Martha's Vineyard 4-2. The mens teams are expected to play host to the Vineyarders later this month on Nantucket.
