JetBlue to offer round-trip service from Nantucket to New York

JetBlue announced today that it will begin seasonal service to Nantucket from JFK airport in New York on May 24. A daily flight in each direction will be augmented by an additional flight on Fridays and Mondays.
The service will utilize recently-introduced Embraer 190 aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers. Neeleman said JetBlue's traditional pricing structure will apply to these flights, with off-peak, one-way fares as low as $49.00 (if booked by March 7, with travel taking place before June 20. Regular one-way fares range from $79 to $279)
JetBlue will serve Nantucket Memorial Airport with its 100-seat EMBRAER 190 jets, the largest and most spacious aircraft flying to the island. The E190 offers roomy leather seats with industry-leading legroom, 36 channels of DIRECTV programming (d), and more than 100 channels of XM Satellite Radio -- the most live entertainment options of any airline, and the only in-flight entertainment to Nantucket. Members of TrueBlue, JetBlue's customer loyalty program, will earn two points on flights between New York and Nantucket, with double points awarded for travel purchased online at www.jetblue.com.
In addition, David Neeleman, CEO of JetBlue Airways and Dan Wolf, President of Cape Air, also announced a joint marketing agreement which will allow Nantucketers to fly on a combined ticket through Boston to or from any destination in the United States, the Caribbean or Mexico served by JetBlue, and to check baggage between the two airlines through to their final destination.
Effective immediately, for travel beginning March 18, 2007, combined tickets may be booked only on the JetBlue website or through its reservations agents. (Cape Air will not book the combined flights.) In addition, travelers connecting between the two airlines will no longer be inconvenienced by having to go outside security at Terminal C in Boston to recheck their bags.
Wolf said that travelers could expect to save $30-40 using the combined booking over separately purchasing tickets on the two airlines.
The marketing agreement only applies to Cape Air's Cape &Islands routes. It does not apply to the airline's routes in Florida and the Caribbean at this time.
